The sixth edition of ICC T20 cricket world cup is kicking off in India on 8th March and 16 nations are participating in the event including hosts India. All 10 full time International cricket council members and 6 associate members national teams will compete in the competition. Sri-Lanka cricket team will be the title defending champion in ICC World Twenty20 2016.

The opening match of tournament is scheduled to take place between Zimbabwe and Hong Kong cricket teams on March 8 in Nagpur. A total of 12 matches will be played in the first stage of WT20 2016 featuring 6 associate teams and two ICC full time member teams Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. Top 2 teams from this round will go through to Super-10 stage and compete with 8 top cricketing nations for semi-finals berth.

In the first match of Super-10 round hosts India to face New Zealand on 15 March at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.
