Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt has bought a team in the new twenty20 league MCL which is scheduled to play next year in the January-February month. The retired players from various countries will be participating in the UAE-based Master Champions League.

Currently Sanjay Dutt is in prison as he was found guilty in the 1993 Bombay Blasts. So his wife Maanyata Dutt will be looking for such business threads and interested in the absence of Sanjay.

Speaking to TOI Maanyata said, “As a family, we have always been passionate about sport. Sanjay, in particular, has been an avid sports enthusiast since childhood.”

There are some top class ex-cricketers including India’s Virender Sehwag, Australia’s Adam Gilchrist, West Indies’ Brian Lara, Pakistan’s Wasim Akram, South Africa’s Jacques Kallis and more former players will be there in the contest.

“Like most Indians, we are extremely passionate about cricket and just the thought of owning a team with legends like Sehwag, Lara, Kallis being part of it is tremendously exciting. We are sure MCL is a unique concept and will prove to be a valuable investment,” she added.

Indranil Das Blah, managing partner at talent management company CAA KWAN who will be running Dutt’s yet-to-be-named MCL team as chief executive said, “The teams will be named after sun signs. We will be gunning for ‘Leo’… Most of the paper work has been completed and the auction or draft will be conducted by the end of November this year.”

“Mr Dutt is passionate about cricket and he saw this as an opportunity to own an asset which will see its valuation increase over the next four years or so,” he added.

Master Champions League will be having six teams in the inaugural edition of tournament that is scheduled to take place in United Arab Emirates next year in January-February.
