Benoni Zalmi is a professional twenty20 cricket team that will participate in South Africa’s “T20 Global League”. It is one of the 8 original franchises in T20GL league launched in August. Pakistan Super League team Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi is the owner of Benoni Zalmi and this is the second franchise of Zalmi.
The ‘Benoni Zalmi’ logo represents Pride, Passion and Power. Team owner Javed Afridi said, “Zalmi is passion, resilience and unrelenting energy and this is the heart of Benoni.”
Former South Africa skipper Graeme Smith was appointed head coach of Benoni Zalmi.
