PCB Chairman Mr. Shaharyar Khan on Tuesday indicated that Pakistan’s participation in next year’s ICC World Twenty20 event is not confirmed. The fact is Tournament will be hosted in India and Shaharyar Khan’s said that we have to depend on government’s decision whether to send team in India or not.
On Tuesday Pakistan Cricket Board’s governing meeting was held and there were some decisions taken. After the meet, Shaharyar Khan said that it is early to say whether Pakistan will play in 2016 wt20 or not. Team’s participation will depend on government’s approval.
“(It is) premature to say anything about going to India for the World T20. We will decide about it after consulting the government,” as quoted published on PakPassion.net.
Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Shaharyar Khan also made comment in October that Pakistan might boycott ICC World T20 as if bilateral series with India doesn’t take place.
He commented, “If the BCCI does not answer us on revival of Pakistan-India series in 10 days time, it will be presumed that they don’t want to play Pakistan and after that we will decide our team’s participation in the T20 World Cup. As far as the World T20 is concerned, we will take a final decision on Pakistan’s participation after the BCCI gives us a clear answer on the bilateral series. The Pakistan government will also assess the security situation in India before we decide our future course of action.”
