ICC Women’s T20 world cup 2016 will be the fifth edition of ICC Women’s World Twenty20 that schedules to take place in India from 15 March to 3 April. 8 cities will host the prestigious show piece as BCCI announced the venues in July 2015. A total of 10 teams will be participating in women’s world 20-20 championship with Australia will be title defending team.
International Cricket Council announced the groups, fixtures and schedule of tournament on 11 December 2015 in an event in Mumbai. Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Dharamsala, New Delhi and Mohali will host the women’s matches of t20 cricket world cup in 2016. Hosts India to take on Bangladesh in the opening game of ICC Women’s World Twenty20 2016 on 15 March at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
The final match of championship is scheduled to play on 3 April at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The 10 teams are divided into two groups, each consisting 5 teams. Title defenders and three time champion team Australia is placed in Group A of 2016 women’s t20 world cup along with New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Ireland. Group B consists hosts India, England, Pakistan, West Indies and Bangladesh.
