Former spin bowler Ramesh Powar has been roped as the head coach of Indian women’s national cricket team and team will get his services till the 2018 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 in West Indies. Ramesh played for India’s men’s cricket team during 2004 and 2007 in which he managed to take 40 wickets in 2 tests and 31 ODIs.
Ramesh Powar’s tenure to begin with Sri Lanka’s tour in September and after that team will be playing a bilateral series in West Indies. Afterward Women in Blue will be participating in the sixth edition of WWT20 kicking off on 9th November in Caribbean region.
Indian women were fantastic in 2017 cricket world cup where they managed to reach the final but dropped the guns against England. After that team couldn’t make it to final of tri-nation series. However team reached to the final of Asia Cup in which they faced defeat against Bangladesh. So it will be a challenging role for Powar to take team towards winning ways.
