Chris Gayle’s 116 runs innings in 62 balls became waste for Jamaica Tallawas when St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots chased a record total of 241 in the 7th match of Hero Caribbean Premier League 2019. SKNP chased 242 target in 18.5 overs with the help of brilliant innings from Thomas, Lewis, Evan and Allen.
From the start of the match, Saint Kitts and Nevis Patriots were lucky as they won toss and chose to field first. Eventually their decision was proven wrong by Tallawahs batsmen especially from Chris Gayle who was in dangerous mood. Universe boss was hitting the ball quite well and all over the park.
Chris Gayle scored his fourth CPL hundred and made 116 runs to guide Jamaica Tallawahs towards a huge total. Chadwick Walton also contributed well and built partnership with Gayle. Walton made 73 runs in 36 balls at the strike rate of 200. At the end of innings, Jamaica posted 241 runs on the board.
Jamaica team never thought of that Patriots would chase this huge target but it happened. And it happened because of classy innings from opener Even Lewis who smacked bowlers all over the park. He hit 6 sixes and 4 fours in short 18-ball innings. Lewis made 53 and took the momentum from Tallawahs to St. Kitts favor.
All-rounder Fabian Allen also played a crucial innings of 37 runs in 15 balls which helped Devon Thomas to keep batting at the one end. Thomas made 71 runs in 40 balls. St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots chased the record t20 target before 7 balls in their 20-over batting.
Evin Lewis was announced man of the match for his brilliant innings.
