Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mr. Shahryar Khan has clarified that Shahid Afridi will remain captain till 2016 ICC World Twenty20 and will be leading the team in prestigious t20 cricket tournament.
There were rumors that Afridi might be removed from captaincy due to his bad form and performance over the months. But PCB Chairman’s statement has declined all the possibilities of appointing new captain ahead of wt20.
Mr Shahryar added, “Shahid Afridi is not in good form but he is hero of Pakistan cricket and a match winner.”
Before few days back, former Pakistani cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz said that Afridi should not be a part of team due to his bad performances.
Shahid Afridi announced retirement from ODIs after 2015 cricket world cup and he has already mentioned that 2016 t20 world cup will be his last 20-20 series.
Afridi was a part of Pakistan‘s only t20 world cup win in 2009 and he played crucial role in the championship.
