Sri Lanka Cricket Board are looking to continue with national team head coach till the next year’s ICC World T20 championship in India. Jerome Jayaratne is associated with Sri-Lanka after Marvan Attapattu’s step-down as the coach.
Though there is no official announcement regarding this but board is in talks with Jayaratne. Wettimuny said, “We are in discussion at the moment. We have approached him and he looks okay we have not finalised anything yet.”
“The players are very happy with him. Ultimately what matters is the players and the management. The feed back we get from the team is that they are very happy. Cricket is going in the right direction and we got plenty of players on the bench who are pushing and trying to come in.”
Sri Lankan cricket team will be the title defending champions in 2016 world t20 that is scheduled to take place in India from 11 March to 3 April.
“We don’t want to take too many long term decisions the new Cricket Board must decide that. Going upto the World T20 is a worthwhile investment.”
