Mumbai Indians is the most successful team in India’s premium twenty20 league IPL. Team has won four Indian Premier League trophies so far and Mumbai played five IPLT20 finals so far. First time Mumbai Indians played IPL final in 2010 under Sachin Tendulkar’s captaincy but unfortunately team couldn’t win title as Chennai Super Kings defeated them.
The blue brigade appeared in 4 more IPL finals in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019 when team became champions. Rohit Sharma was the star for Mumbai Indians as he lead team in these seasons to the glory. He’s the first captain to win 4 IPL trophies in history as Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings in their 5th Indian Premier League finale on 12th May 2019.

IPL 2010 Final: CSK vs MI
This was first IPL final appearance for Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings won the toss and choose to bat first at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. CSK posted 168 runs on the board with help of Suresh Raina’s unbeaten 57. Mumbai Indians batting collapsed and team could manage to score 146 runs in 20 overs after losing 9 wickets. Captain Sachin Tendulkar made 48 which were not enough. Hence Mumbai lost their first IPL final.
IPL 2013 Final: MI vs CSK
The second occasion when Mumbai Indians reached to IPL final was in 2013 Indian Premier League edition. MI was up against CSK again in the title battle and this Mumbai clinch IPL trophy by defeating Chennai Super Kings. Winning the toss, Mumbai chose to bat at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens stadium. Team couldn’t score more big runs as Mumbai Indians just posted 148 in 20 overs. Thanks to Kieron Pollard who scored 60 runs in 32 balls. These runs were not too big to chase but pressure game it was and CSK couldn’t chase it and fall short by 23 runs. It was Sachin’s last IPL, hence it was one of the greatest victory for Mumbai in the history.
IPL 2015 Final: MI vs CSK
The rivalry of Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings on the peak again as third time the two sides were facing off each other in an IPL final. Eden Gardens was set to host Indian Premier League 2015 final on 24 May when CSK won toss and chose to field first. Mumbai batsmen played some terrfic strokes to break Super Kings’ confidence and team posted 202 runs on the board in crucial final. In reply to this, Chennai could reach just 161 and lost the match by 41 runs to hand over Mumbai Indians their second IPL trophy.
IPL 2017 Final: MI vs RPS
The most exciting IPL final of all time was 2017 when Mumbai Indians were playing their fourth final against Rising Pune Supergiant. Two-time IPL winner, Mumbai won toss and chose to bat first. The decision didn’t go to Mumbai Indians favor in the first half as they just made 129 runs in 20 overs. Hardik Pandya made 47 which helped team to post the total. Hyderabad’s pitch was not easy to bat on and RPS also struggled on the pitch. Skipper Steve Smith scored half-century but couldn’t finish the match as team fall short by 1 run. Mumbai Indians won IPL 2017 trophy by just 1 run.
IPL 2019 Final: MI vs CSK
Mumbai Indians reached to Vivo IPL final for the fifth time in 2019 and the match took place on 12 May at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. MI beat CSK by 1 run to create history and became first team to win four Indian Premier League twenty20 trophies. Mumbai made 149 runs while batting first after winning the toss. CSK couldn’t chase the target and fall short by one run.
