BCCI CEO Rahul Johri has confirmed that next Indian Premier League 2018 edition will see return of two most popular IPL franchises Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. The CEO also mentioned that Gujarat Lions and Rising Pune Supergiant will no longer be a part of IPLT20 championship after CSK, RR’s comeback.
Both Royals and Super Kings were suspended for two years ban in 2015 by honorable supreme court. Hence two new teams Rising Pune and Gujarat Lions were introduced to be a part of Vivo IPL 2016 and 2017 seasons.
Mr. Rahul said, “The ban on Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals will be lifted next year. Therefore, both teams will return in the next edition of the IPL. The BCCI is in no mood to increase the number of teams in the IPL. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals will replace Rising Pune Supergiant and Gujarat Lions in the next edition of the IPL.”
It is also mentioned in the reports published in Dainik Jagarn that number of fan parks will be increased in 11th edition of Indian Premier League. IPL and BCCI committee will look forward to add more small cities and towns in fans park list for 2018 edition.
“To increase the popularity of IPL in small towns and cities, fan parks will be created in such areas. Every match of the IPL is viewed by 20 lakhs people online,” quoted by Johri.
