Twenty20 cricket leagues have been known for doing some serious business and Big Bash League is one of the most popular T20 leagues where playing teams do some decent earnings. Winning team of BBL earns handsome money as in 2015-16 season, Big Bash winning team Sydney Thunder made $450,000 be defeating Melbourne Stars who bagged $260,000.
In 2014-15 edition of Big Bash League, there was a total budget of $290,000 for the tournament as prize distribution award money. But after the demise of Champions Twenty20 League, Cricket Australia announced hike in the prize money for BBL T20 and CA increased prize money pool almost triple from previous edition.
There was additional amount of $600,000 which didn’t go directly to the players but will be handed over to the respective clubs. Winner Sydney Thunder got $300,000 additionally meanwhile runners-up Melbourne Stars made $250,000. Semi-final losers also got $50,000 each.
