Cricket South Africa has made some big changes in their twenty20 international squad as they appoint Farhaar Behardien as the skipper to lead a young team against Sri-Lanka. There is no Faf du Plessis, AB De Villiers, Dale Steyn, Amla, Duminy or de Kock. These players have been rested for upcoming future series and big tournament like champions trophy.
Convener of selector Linda Zondi said, “We have decided to rest some of our key senior players for this series. This is the last chance we have to do this as the ODI series that follows is an important part of our build-up to the Champions Trophy tournament in England in the middle of the year.”
Heino Kuhn, Theunis de Bruyn, Reeza Hendricks, Dane Paterson, Mangaliso Mosehle, Lungi Ngidi, Wayne Parnell, Andile Phehlukwayo and Jon-Jon Smuts are included in the 13-men Proteas roster for first two T20Is. There are six players in the roster who will make debut for Africa.
