England cricket board have revealed the list of 15-member women’s squad for forthcoming ICC World T20 2016 championship in India. Charlotte Edwards will be leading the English team in fifth edition of women’s twenty20 world cup. Heather Knight is appointed the vice-captain of England women’s team which won inaugural ICC Women’s World T20.
Fast bowler Katherine Brunt has made comeback in the roster despite back injury. Brunt will not be a part of England team that will play T20 series against South Africa before WWT20. Head coach Mark Robinson has said that team would be looking to perform better this time and make country proud once again just like 2009.
Mark Robinson said, “We are all looking forward to testing ourselves against the very best cricketers from across the world and playing the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 in a cricket-mad country.”
“It will be a great experience for all of the players selected – both those who have had this opportunity before, and for the likes of Tash Farrant, selected for an ICC global event for the first time. Tash really impressed during England women’s training camp to Sri Lanka before Christmas last year, and adds a different dimension to the bowling attack as a left-arm seamer.”
England also reached to the final of 2012 and 2014 ICC World T20s but lost both time against Australia. Let’s have a look at the announced team of England.
