West Indies’ destructive batsman Chris Gayle has broken the record of most number of sixes in international twenty20 matches. He broke the record of Brendon McCullum’s 91 sixes while playing 2016 world t20 match against England in Wankhede, Mumbai.
New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum smashed 91 T20I sixes in 70 innings whereas Gayle just played 44 matches to achieve such record. In the list of hitting most number of sixes list, Australia’s Shane Watson is on the third place as he has hit 79 big sixes till now in played 52 matches. David Warner and Shahid Afridi is followed by 73 and 70 sixes.
Chris Gayle also completed his second hundred in this match. He reached to the century in just 47 balls with 11 huge sixes and 5 fours. Gayle scored his first T20 ton in ICC World Twenty20 2007 against South Africa at Johannesburg. In that match he made 117 in 57 balls.
This is the second hundred of sixth wt20 championship this year as previously Bangladesh’s Tamim Iqbal hit ton against Oman in first round match. With this excellent inning, Caribbean team beat England by 6 wickets in their super-10 group match in ICC World T20 2016.
