Ireland cricket have appointed former Sri-Lanka pace bowler Chaminda Vaas as the bowling consultant coach for 2016 twenty20 world cup. The former Lankai bowler will join the team next month and will remain with the squad till the World T20’s campaign.
Ireland Head coach John Bracewell said that it would be great to have Chaminda in the support staff and his experience in wicket taking on sub-continent pitches would help the side.
He said, “It’s great to have Chaminda with us through the build-up as well as during the T20 World Cup. His ability to get wickets in all forms of the game, especially on the sub-continent, was extraordinary. This experience will be invaluable to our bowling group.”
Chaminda Vaas is also happy to be associated with James Bracewell team for t20 world cup in India. He said in a Cricket Ireland statement, “I’m very excited to be joining the backroom staff of the Ireland team.”
Ireland cricket team will have to face Bangladesh, Netherlands and Oman in the first group stage matches beginning from 8 March. If team tops the group, they will qualify for super-10.
