If you can relate how stars are born, you can watch the 9th match of Dream11 Indian Premier League 2020 edition between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). Rahul Tewatia, the guy who facing lots of criticism over not connecting the ball when team required the runs at rapid rate. But towards the end, he was the hero for Rajasthan as he smacked 5 sixes in an over of Sheldon Cottrell to give his team edge in the match.
Winning the toss, Rajasthan put KXIP on to bat. Brilliant opening partnership from skipper KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal guided Punjab to post 223 runs on the board after 20 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Mayank scored his maiden IPL hundred while Rahul scored anoth fifty.
No IPL team has ever chased such target in the history of tournament but Sunday was special and RR batsmen had different plans. Jos Buttler was dismissed in the third over for cheaply and then captain Steve Smith and young batting sensation Sanju Samson started to hit the ball clean and both players took team’s total to 100 in 9 overs. Smith returned to pavilion after completing fifty.
Everyone was expecting Robin Uthappa to join Sanju in the middle but Royals sent Rahul Tewatia in this crucial match phase. At one end, Samson was scoring quick runs and hitting boundaries while Tewatia was struggling to even touch his bat with the ball. He was batting on 6 runs after playing almost 18 balls in the game where team was required at least 15 runs per over.
Sanju Samson was dismissed for brilliant 85 in 42 balls. Then it was Rahul’s run to take team close to the target. West Indies’ fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell came to bowl 18th over of the match and fortune change for 2008 Indian Premier League winners. Tewatia smashed five 6s in that over to take team close to the target and RR was required 21 runs in the last 2 overs.
Rahul made 53 runs in 31 balls that includes 7 huge sixes. Interestingly he didn’t hit single four in the match changing innings.
