Players draft for 2016 Caribbean Premier League is scheduled to take place on 11 February in Barbados. A 323 cricketers are drafted in the CPL players draft excluding six marquee players for 6 participating teams in the competition. There are some top cricketers from 14 countries are listed in the draft. 37 Pakistani players have enrolled for Caribbean Premier League 4th edition draft which is the maximum number from any other country than West Indies. From Caribbean region, 157 domestic and international players are listed in the draft.
Tournament’s CEO director of international cricket Tom Moody said, “Some of the leading names in world cricket have signalled their intentions to join the biggest party in sport at the CPL, so this year’s competition is sure to be our most exciting to date.”
Some top West Indies’ players will be in high demand when the draft begins. The list includes Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Darren Sammy, Sunil Narine, Darren Bravo, Kieron Pollard and Lendl Simmons. Apart from these Windies cricketers, top nodge international players like Michael Hussey, Brad Hodge, Shaun Tait, Shakib Al Hasan, Colin Munro, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Hashim Amla, Johan Botha, Lasith Malinga, Tillakaratne Dilshan and more are in the players draft.
