Former Brisbane Heat fast bowler Alister McDermott has joined Sydney Thunder squad for 2015-16 KFC Big Bash League. Club has contracted the player with the hopes that he will deliver some quick bowling during the tournament and at some instant he’ll fulfill the place of injured Pat Cummins.
McDermott said, “Coming into the Thunder I’m looking forward to hopefully getting an opportunity, most likely at the death and having the chance to show my skills.”
Alister shows his excitement after signing up with Thunders and has said that he will be eager to play for the club and get some quality time with coach Paddy Upton on the nets. He also mentions that playing under Michael Hussey’s captaincy will be a great opportunity and his experience will work fur sure.
“I’ve heard bits and pieces about the techniques Paddy uses, and by the sounds of things it is going to be pretty interesting and exciting. I spent a month with Huss in Dubai, everyone knows what a legend he is and what he can bring to the team on the field and what he brings to the team off-field with his leadership and experience is invaluable, I can’t wait to get amongst it,” he added.
McDermott also commented about Pat Cummins injury and said that it’s really a stressful period for a bowler to recover from such kind of injury. But we have to come out from it and recover soon to get back into action.
“I know what Pat is going through having returned from a stress fracture, it’s not a good road but it holds you in good stead when you get back on the field,” McDermoss said.
