2020 Asia Cup will be the 15th edition of cricket’s Asia cup to be played in September. Asian Cricket Council awarded tournament hosting rights to Pakistan. Six Asian countries will be competing in the competition and India will be two-time title defending champions.
However Pakistan’s hosting of Asia Cup 2020 is doubtful as country hasn’t hosted major international tournaments since 2009 terror attacks on Sri Lankan cricket team. Eventually they’ve been playing international bilateral series in UAE till 2019 including their t20 league PSL. Though Sri Lanka team traveled to Pakistan for T20Is and ODIs series in October 2019.
Due to political tensions between India and Pakistan, it is unlikely that Indian cricket team would participate in the competition if it takes place in Pakistan. 2018’s Asia cup was originally planned to held in India but due to tensions with neighboring nation, UAE hosted the event.
