Indian Premier League governing council is all set to declare the schedule and fixtures for ninth edition of tournament on Wednesday. Initially the schedule was about to announce on Monday but due to Shivratri holiday it was postponed to Tuesday. But today there was hype of Indo-Pak world T20 match venue problem which was resolved and now it’s turn for IPL 2016.
As per the inside story and reports from IPL officials to us, schedule and dates for Vivo Indian Premier League will be released on 9 March just before one month before the first game of competition. IPL is already announced that 9th season will be played between 9 April and 29 May. It is believed that 3 new venues Kanpur, Nagpur and Raipur are set to make debut for the cash rich twenty20 league this year.
There will be 11 venues are set to host IPL-9. Two qualifiers, 1 eliminator and final match are to play during 6-day time period. The first qualifier match will be played on 24 May between the top two teams of the group stage and winner of this match will proceed to final. Loser of this game will have one more chance to play second qualifier on 27 May which will be against the winner of Eliminator which will be played on 25 May, 2016.
Vivo IPL 2016 final will be played on 29 May. Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions are the fresh franchise teams in the competition. As per earlier reports, Gujarat Lions will be allotted few matches at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. The opening match of this year’s IPL is believed to be played between title defending champion Mumbai Indians and new team Rising Pune Supergiants.
