The sixth edition of ICC World Twenty20 is being played in India. In previous five editions we have seen 5 champions of this prestigious T20 cricket world cup. Let’s have a look at the winners of wt20 till now.

WT20 Champions

2014 – Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka won the fifth edition of ICC World T20 by defeating India in the final played in Mirpur. Lastih Malinga led Sri-Lankan team towards the maiden wt20 title.

Sri Lanka won 2014 T20 world cup.

2012 – West Indies

West Indies became world t20 champions in 2012 when they beat hosts Sri Lanka in the final match. Darren Sammy captained the Caribbean Team in 4th edition of twenty20 world cup.

West Indies beat Sri Lanka to win 2012 ICC World T20.

2010 – England

Paul Collingwood led England in 2010 ICC World T20 to become twenty20 champions first time ever. It was third edition of tournament and English team defeated Australia in the final to claim crown.

England beat Australia to win ICC World Twenty20 in 2010.

2009 – Pakistan

Pakistan won the second edition of ICC WT20 played in England. Younis Khan led Men In Green in 2009 twenty20 world cup to become world champions. Pakistan beat Sri Lanka in the final match.

Pakistan beat Sri Lanka to win 2009 T20 World Cup.

2007 – India

The inaugural tournament of ICC World T20 was won by Indian cricket team by beating arch rivals Pakistan in the final. MS Dhoni captained team India to win the title.

India beat Pakistan to win first ICC T20 World Cup in 2007.
