The 2016 ICC World Twenty20 will be sixth edition of ICC World Twenty20 and it is scheduled to play in India from 8 March to 3 April. There will be 16 teams taking participation in 2016 T20 world cup and Sri Lanka cricket team will be the defending champion in competition.

Teams

16 countries from all over the world will be participating in this prestigious event. All 10 full members of International Cricket Council have qualified for the competition whereas 6 associated members team have entered in the ICC World T20 2016 through 2015 ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers. It will be first occasion when Oman’s national cricket team will be playing in twenty20 world cup.

There are two stages in the event. Top 8 teams according ICC T20I championship rankings have reached to Super 10 stage whereas rest eight nations will play in first round to get into super-10. Let’s have a look at the teams according group stage and super 10.

Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) announced that 8 cities will be hosting T20 world cup 2016 cricket matches between 8 March and 3 April. Organization also declared that final match of championship will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Have a look at the list of venues for 6th ICC World Twenty20.

Fixtures

The fixtures and schedule of ICC World T20 2016 released on 11 December 2015. Title defending champions Sri Lanka are placed in Group-1 along with West Indies, England, South Africa and one qualifier from Group B of first stage. Hosts India are placed in Group-2 of super 10 stage along with Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and winner of Group-A from first round.
